Hello. I’m Dr. Cal Shipley, and welcome to my site. I’m guessing that if you’re reading this, we share something in common: a love of the study of Medicine. It seems forever that I’ve had an ongoing curiosity and sense of wonder about the composition and function of the human body. I studied Medicine in Canada at the University of Alberta, and did my residency in Family Medicine at the University of Wyoming, and for the past many years, I’ve practiced in an Urgent Care setting in Portland Oregon, USA.
For the past 15 years, I’ve also been involved in the production of medically related animation for use at trial, educating jurors about this or that aspect of physiology, pathology, and clinical procedures. Not long ago, it occurred to me that the body of animation work I had produced for hundreds of legal cases could be used to educate not just jurors, but people from all walks of life: students, patients, or just about anyone with a question or interest in how the body works. That’s when I decided to start this site.
I hope you have as much enjoyment here as I have had putting it together. Check out the animation and take a look at my blog. I’ll be adding more animation and more blog articles on a regular basis (see the home page for "What's New"), and I’ll look forward to hearing your comments, and recommendations for topics you’d like to see covered…
Cal Shipley M.D.
